It has been a turbulent few months for the Brighton middleweight who, after prolonged and eventually stalled negotiations, missed out on a much-anticipated blockbuster clash with unified world champion Gennady Golovkin.
With Golovkin now scheduled to fight Kell Brook, the 26-year-old Eubank Jr will instead make the second defence of his British title against Tommy Langford after promoter Frank Warren won the purse bids to stage the fight.
Eubank Jr is eager to win the Lonsdale belt outright and is two successful defences away from doing so. With that, he is keen to keep progressing and has not let up on training despite his trip to America’s glitziest city.
Speaking exclusively to World Boxing News, he said: “Although I wanted a holiday, it’s important for me to not get out of the rhythm of training. This is no ordinary 9 to 5 day job and I have a 24/7 in terms of my boxing and my career as a professional sportsman.
“We don’t take breaks and I wanted to go somewhere where I could still train. Vegas is a wonderful place and there are a lot of things going on over there, it’s a great place to have some fun, but it is also one of the best places in the world to train and to box.
“The linkup with Floyd Sr is nothing new and I’ve trained with him on and off for many years now. It’s always a good experience with him.
“After talking to him, I went out there and we set up a little training camp for the length of my holiday. I trained every day for 10-12 days and you learn a lot out there, I don’t see a holiday as a time to break from boxing – it never stops.”
