Cotto, Canelo reviewing November dates, no venue set yet

Rumours had recently surfaced that a definite date of November 21 had been agreed on between the talented pair, although Gaby Pengaricano informed WBN on Wednesday that talks are progressing without any solid confirmation on when the fight will happen, or indeed at which venue.

“I can say that November 21 is one of the possible dates, but also that there are a few in November,” Pengaricano exclusively told World Boxing News.

“Nothing is set and we are considering are other dates at this time. In regards to the venue, that is also not set yet.

“Right now, we are in the process of reviewing each deal,” he added.

Cotto v Canelo is currently the highest-profile clash behind a Mayweather v Pacquaio rematch and will go ahead on HBO PPV at some stage before Christmas. The winner will then meet formidable WBA and IBO title holder Gennady Golovkin in another huge contest in early 2016 to decide once and for all who the best 160lber on the planet really is.

WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman has already ruled that Golovkin is next, although the Kazakh still hopes to face Floyd Mayweather in September, and may well fight again in December, before eventually facing the either Cotto or Canelo.
