The 29 year-old, who lost out to the formidable Gennady Golovkin for the WBA and IBO championships in 2012, has parted ways with Matchroom Boxing is now ready to rebuild his career on home soil.
Instead of choosing a routine return, hard-hitting Proksa faces 18-0 prospect Sulecki. A fighter rated number one in his native country will test if ‘Super G’ can once again return to the top level.
“It is a fight against a hungry young opponent who is used to success and is not familiar with the taste of defeat,” Proksa told World Boxing News.
“I have to fight and beat opponents like Sulecki if I want to get back to the heights I was at before and face the European middleweight hierarchy.
“A win may not take me to a world title, but it certainly put me back up with the European leaders at middleweight or super-middleweight, and I am expecting a tough battle.”
Those ‘European leaders’ Proksa speaks of are current title-holder Billy Joe Saunders and his upcoming November 29 rival Chris Eubank Jr, who could potentially be future foes for the 29-3 contender.
“I aim to prove with my performance that I am still at European level on Saturday, then of course that I would like to fight Saunders or Eubank in the future once their fight is over,” said Proksa.
“I’ll be cheering for Eubank Jr on the night because I’m a big fan of his father, and I was fascinated by him when I was younger. It would be an honor to share the ring with Eubank’s son in the future.”
