Oleksandr Usyk eyes ‘massive’ future fight with Anthony Joshua

Both Usyk and Joshua have not surprisingly taken to the pro game like ducks to water and the former believes a match-up against the super-heavyweight amateur king is only natural once the two have reached to top of the paid ranks.

“A fight with Anthony Joshua will be massive in the future, but it takes time,” Usyk stated.

The 26 year-old, who is currently campaigning at the 200lb limit, stopped Mexican Felipe Romero last weekend on his debut without a headguard and has been tipped to be a world champion within two years.

Any potential clash between Usyk and Joshua could still be a few years away as the Ukrainian is likely to want to conquer the cruiserweight division before making the step up to the big boys at 200lb plus.

Londoner Joshua, is on his way to being 5-0 by the end of his first year under Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom banner and makes his third ring appearance this Thursday on top billing at York Hall in Bethnal Green.

The Watford fighter is then lined up to fight on the Froch v Groves undercard on the 23rd, before ending the year facing Dorian Darch at the ExCel on December 14.
