Floyd Mayweather is rumored to be considering – or to have initially agreed on a comeback fight with Adrien Broner.
The former pound for pound king outlined his decision to return to action last month following another year of retirement.
Mayweather last fought when dominating UFC fighter Conor McGregor under boxing rules in August 2017. The American has since stated a rematch with Manny Pacquiao will happen.
Taking to social media, Mayweather then said a warm-up would be needed – possibly in Tokyo. And Broner is now being strongly linked.
A Broner fight would certainly mean a second outing with Pacquiao would happen deeper into 2019 after initially been slated for December.
‘The Problem’ has long been a protege of Mayweather’s and any future contest would have a ‘master versus pupil’ angle to it.
Adopting Mayweather’s style, or his own version of it, Broner has claimed world titles at four separate weights. The Cincinnati fighter, like Mayweather, has had his troubles outside of the ring and competing in Japan could be right up his street.
Whether the clash actually gets over the line is still up in the air. This is unless Mayweather himself confirms a deal is done. Whilst Pacquiao will be waiting in the wings for the winner.

It could be good news for Amir Khan though, as a delay to ‘MayPac 2’ could mean Pacquaio himself can have an interim battle.
Pacquiao v Khan has been hitting the headlines recently and potentially could be made for January or February.
A return of the current most lucrative event of all time, which garnered 4.6m PPV buys in 2015, is now looking likely for the late spring of 2019.
More is set to come light over the next few weeks. Whilst many see Broner as a tougher test for Mayweather than Pacquiao at this moment in time.
Two more victories could push Mayweather’s amazing record to 52-0.
