Lennox Lewis says Tyson Fury is the man Wladimir Klitschko really wants

Ex-world champion Klitschko had two fight dates with Fury cancelled in 2016 following on from the Ukrainian’s shock loss a year ago when the pair clashed at the ESPRIT Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany.

As Klitschko readies himself to potentially face Joshua in the spring of 2017, Lewis has predicted Fury coming back earlier than expected from personal problems could end negotiations with the 2012 Olympic champion.

“Klitschko is still the man to beat right now. I feel kind of bad for him because his belts have gone all over the place right now,” Lewis said during Sergey Kovalev v Andre Ward fight week in Las Vegas.

“The guy who beat him (Tyson Fury), he’s not that able to step back into the ring and face him, and now he’s supposed to fight Anthony Joshua and that fell through.

“The man he really wants to fight is Tyson Fury. So, I think he’s just sitting back, regressing and thinking about his next move.”

On the current state of the 200 pound plus weight class,” the former undisputed king added: “The heavyweight division is wide open now, it’s there for the taking. It’s really down to who wants to step in there first and take that chance against Klitschko.

“Klitschko’s armour has been hitched in the sense he’s lost already, so he’s there, he’s beatable and he can be beat.”
