Gvozdyk closes in on Stevenson v Jack winner
Ukrainian Oleksandr Gvozdyk won the World Boxing Council Interim light heavyweight title defeating French Mehdi Amar by unanimous decision, in a card at the Madison Square Garden Theater in New York.
The fight was entertaining, with Gvozdyk dominating most of the rounds, yet Amar showed great heart, even in the twelfth round when he came close to knocking down the Ukrainian fighter.
The Judges scores were: 117-111, 116-112 and 118-110, all in favor of Oleksandr.
With this result, Gvozdyk improves his record to 15-0, with 12 knockouts, while Amar is now 34-6-2, with 16 knockouts.
