‘One more round’ for Rocky Balboa as Sylvester Stallone confirms he’ll direct ‘Creed 2’ himself

Taking to his Instagram account months after ‘Creed 2’ was announced, Stallone confirmed he will take over directing duties from Ryan Coogler for the much-anticipated sequel.

“Looking forward to directing and Producing The incredibly talented Michael B Jordan in Creed 2 next year … One more Round !” said Stallone.

Speculation has already begun on the fate of Stallone’s character ‘Rocky Balboa’ who was suffering from cancer in the last installment.

Many see it as a natural progression for Balboa to make his final appearance in ‘Creed 2’ before bowing out to allow Jordan to take ‘Adonis Johnson-Creed’ to the next level.

Failing that, Rocky’s demise could also signal the end of Jordan’s time on the project, which could in turn mean the end of the franchise revival for the time being.

‘Creed’ saw real-life boxers Andre Ward, Tony Bellew, and Gabriel Rosado feature in their big screen debuts and it is thought Stallone will seek out more fighters for the forthcoming filming of the second movie.

Ward could even reprise his role as former world champion Danny Wheeler having now retired from the sport on the back of becoming pound for pound number one.

Rocky IV star Dolph Lundgren, who infamously played Russian doper Ivan Drago, has already signed on to bring Apollo Creed’s slayer back to life for the new project.
