The Las Vegas showdown sees boxing’s biggest star of a generation face the new PPV king from the Ultimate Fighting Championship in a cross-codes blockbuster.
Fans from the British Isles will have to pay the usual £19.95 to watch the top line event, which takes place at the T-Mobile Arena on the famous Nevada strip.
Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn had revealed Mayweather was hoping to charge fans a whopping £100 ($130 dollars) to view the McGregor offering but has seemingly backed down.
“Mayweather wants the price to be £100,” Hearn told GQ.
“The price will be within the same realms as it always has. I don’t set the price, but my gut feeling is £19.95.
“If it went to £24.95 – I can’t see it, it wouldn’t be my decision. Sky won’t want to go beyond £19.95. That is their price point,” he added.
In a previous article, WBN predicted anything over £24.95 would have fans in uproar as the usual fee for top notch events is Hearn’s previously mentioned £19.95.
For this one-off showpiece, £19.95 – the same as Anthony Joshua v Wladimir Klitschko, is a reasonable figure as the PPV will be on sale in the United States for almost 90 dollars, 100 in HD.
The undercard for Mayweather v McGregor is the next announcement to be made, presumably by the end of this week in order to tie in with the completion of the major TV.
