Svensson backs Berghult to shine on debut

Berghult, a 21 year-old Swedish amateur star from Malmo, faces Serbia’s Sara Marjanovic in a four-round light welterweight contest on the undercard of Erik Skoglund’s fight with American KO specialist Derek Edwards.

‘’I’ve known Patricia since she was ten years old,’’ says Svensson, the former WBC interim Champion and World title challenger. ‘’She started boxing at the same amateur club as me in Höllviken and I’ve been following her amazing career ever since.

‘’She is a very talented girl and I think the professional game is going to suit her well. She is a very skilled technical fighter but also has a high paced, natural aggression to her boxing. She’s definitely not the type to back down. I’m looking forward to seeing her in her first pro-fight and I think she is going to do very well.’’

Svensson will be ringside in Nyköping watching Berghult’s professional debut as a commentator for TV10’s live coverage, but it won’t be long until fans get to see ‘The Swedish Princess’ on the other side of the ropes as the 28 year-old sets her sights on a second World title challenge.

‘’I’ve been back in training for almost a month now,’’ she said. ‘’I needed a little bit of time off but now I’m back and I feel better than ever. I’m looking forward to fighting again at the beginning of next year.’’

Erik Skoglund’s light heavyweight showdown with Derek Edwards tops a blockbuster bill in Nyköping, featuring Swedish fan favourite Anthony Yigit versus former Floyd Mayweather opponent DeMarcus ‘Chop Chop’ Corley, heavyweight hope Otto Wallin against the Serbian giant Samir Kurtagic, Oscar Ahlin taking on the tough Russian Varazdat Chernikov plus rising Swedish stars Sven Fornling, Hampus Henriksson and Patricia Berghult.

Tickets are available online via www.biljettforum.se or by calling (+46) 0771-130 150. All the action will be shown live on TV10 in Sweden.
