Zepeda (23-1, 20 KOs), born in Mexicali and 26 years of age, is now a native of the United States where he has held several battles. “Chon” is seeking another world title shot as soon as possible after a left shoulder injury prevented him from becoming world champion last July when he faced the English Terry Flanagan.

In just the second round of that fight, Zepeda dislocated his shoulder and could not continue the fight, which decreed the TKO victory for Flanagan and took away his chances of winning the lightweight title of the World Boxing Organization (WBO).

As he returned from England, Zepeda avoided the operation, but he conducted a careful rehabilitation program that already has him ready to climb back into the ring. Zepeda now faces a dangerous opponent from Nicaragua who is no victim despite nine losses on his record.

The native of the city of Nagarote beat his compatriot Gonzalo Munguía in his most recent fight and is in good condition to make it a tough fight against Zepeda on October 31.
