Whyte works out in Hamburg with coach Banks for Brazilian opponent

Both were in action last Saturday in Berlin in the ring, but since Monday have worked as training partners for Whyte and trainer Johnathon Banks.

The undefeated Briton (14-0) is set to fight against his compatriot, the Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua (25) later this year, but first he takes on Brazilian Irineu Beato Costa Junior on August 1.

“To prepare, Whyte and his trainer Johnathon Banks have deliberately chosen the headquarters of the EC-BoxPromotion which was designed by promoter Erol Ceylan on the busy Eifelstraße Sports Complex. The venue offers individual accommodation, fitness and cooking facilities and provides ideal conditions for training.

Whyte is delight how thins are going in Hamburg: “Nikola and Adrian are high-quality fighter and I want to prepare myself for the fight against Anthony Joshua so a big guy like Adrian Granat is exactly the right partner,” says Whyte.

Coach Banks, who also trains Wladimir Klitschko added: “I’d invite Adrian to the training camp of Wladimir as he needs him to prepare for Tyson Fury on 24th October. He is a very strong heavyweight and I am impressed.”

“But I am also very pleased with Dillian. He’s doing a good job. He coming on very quickly. However, we still need to work on our tactics. I think if he keeps this up, August 1st should be a  clear victory.”

Also on Monday, Christian Hammer came in as a sparring partner to the team. Hammer and Dillian Whyte have been friends since their time together in the Klitschko camp. The reunion with Whyte starts as training reaches the final phase.
