Carlos Carlson jumps two divisions, stops Heriberto Delgado

By the second, Carlson flattened Delgado with a straight right, and jumped all over him until the end of the round. In the fourth, it was Carlson again connecting upstairs and sending Delgado to the canvas. Sensing a knockout, Carlson poured it on and finished Delgado with a left hook to the body. The referee called the fight at the 1:43 mark.

“I felt strong and fast,” said Carlson, who is a world ranked challenger at bantamweight. “I could tell my punches were hurting him. After the first round, I knew I would be able to knock him out.”

Carlson vs. Delgado served as the televised opener of Top Rank’s Solo Boxeo Tecate on UniMas, and was presented in association with Thompson Boxing Promotions. The event originated from the Florentine Gardens in Hollywood, Calif.

Thompson Boxing returns with an action-packed card featuring lightweight standout Jose Roman, undefeated heavyweight LaRon Mitchell, and lightweight prospect Cesar Villarraga on Friday, June 26. Full details will be announced shortly.
