Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn has released the first photo of IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook as the fighter recovers from the ordeal of being stabbed.
Brook, 28, was enjoying a night out whilst on holiday with his family in Tenerife when the Yorkshireman was attatcked in the early hours of Thursday morning. ‘The Special One’ was knifed in the leg and suffered lacerations to his arm in the incident, although his condition is not life-threatening.
Hearn, who was with Brook as the undefeated boxer defeated Shawn Porter in the US last month to win his first world title, flew to Spain last night to be with his new champion and posted a picture on Friday via his Twitter account.
The promoter was hoping to arrange a homecoming for Brook in Sheffield on December 6 to allow the Briton to share his victory with the local fans, although that plan may now be delayed due to recent events.
World Boxing News named Brook as Boxer of the Month for August 2014 on the back of his exploits in Carson and would like to wish the talented puncher all the best with his recovery.
