Warren secures home advantage for Satchell European title fight

The purse bid opened on Wednesday and wiley promoter Frank Warren was declared the winning bidder. A date will now be confirmed for the contest in the near future.

Satchell’s manager Neil Marsh was obviously delighted by the news and gave his thoughts to WBN shortly afterwards by saying: “This has been a long drawn-out process to get Kevin in this position and we can’t thank Frank Warren and his right hand man Andy Ayling for their support in getting this done for the UK.

“We are aware the fight with Yanchy is a real 50/50 fight as he is a tricky and vastly experienced southpaw, but home advantage was so crucial as this fight is so close. I am confident Kevin will rise to the challenge with fantastic support behind him in Liverpool,” added Marsh.

Satchell himself stated: “I’m absolutely delighted to hear this news. I knew my manager had been working on this for months, but I tried to just concentrate on coming back from my ankle ligament injury. I can’t say enough how lucky I am to have this opportunity and nobody will know how much work as gone on in the background by my manager Neil, who has been fantastic. Also coaches Paul and Mick for going to Milan and for all the hard work they put in.

“Andy Ayling promised us home advantage and I’m so thankful to him and Frank Warren for putting this fight on in my city. This is the hardest fight of my life and one I promise I will win,” said Satchell.
