The 38 year-old had spent two years competing at light-middleweight before accepting Geale’s challenge in Australia at 160lbs and will now focus his efforts of trying to land a huge fight in America.
Mundine has been vocal in his attempts to fight the world’s pound for pound best in Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the past and wants to keep busy as he looks to claim a world title on the road to a possible big ‘Money’ fight.
“I want to let my fans know that I will be fighting again soon at 154,” Mundine told World Boxing News.
“I need to build momentum again (after Geale) I want to fight every two to three months for the next year. My goal is to get to (WBC champion) Saul Alverez by the end of next year and hopefully he don’t get Floyd before then.
“I want to fight the best of our era and that’s ‘Money May’ as I feel he has never faced someone with foot movement and speed like himself. I know I have got to make statements when I fight from now on and I have to win and win well to get moving.
“If I can fight three times before the years end, then Mayweather v Mundine on May Day 2015 will see me put the first loss on he resume!”
‘The Man’ will fight his 50th career bout the next time he steps into the ring, having lost just four times in a glittering stint in the pro ranks.
With time pressing on for Mundine, the Sydney-born technician has one more chapter left to write, which he hopes will lead to the biggest prize of all against the planet’s number one in his 40th year.
