Eddie Hearn hopeful of Haye vs. Fury, mulls Prizefighter bill for Charr bout

Hearn is now set to oversee the ‘Hayemaker’ fight cards as the Londoner gears up to formally announce his June 29 clash with German-based Manuel Charr on Wednesday.

Haye, 32, has thrashed out a deal for the summer with the man who lobbied him at last summer’s fight with Dereck Chisora, although Hearn is already looking ahead to a potential battle against Tyson Fury in the autumn.

“The Tyson Fury fight is a big one, and I think (trainer) Adam (Booth) is already in discussion with their camp about a fight in September or October,” Hearn told Sky Sports.

“David’s got the hunger back to win the title, and that’s what inspired us to be part of that plan. He has a burning desire to fight a Klitschko, but at the same time, he wants to be involved in the biggest fights possible.

“The Fury fight is a massive one. It will generate a huge amount of money and money talks. Fury is at the stage where he needs the big fights to move on to fight a Klitschko. He’s proven himself as a good fighter and big personality.

“Everyone’s got an opinion on him, and you need those personalities in the sport. Fury against Haye is a massive fight.”

24-year-old Fury elevated his reputation on the back of his knockout victory over Steve Cunningham last week in New York. With Haye back on Sky Sports, the big money Sky Box Office event could well be in the offing for the two domestic rivals.

Meanwhile, Hearn is contemplating another Prizefighter – The International heavyweights tournament to bolster the undercard when Haye makes his co-promotional Matchroom debut against Charr at Manchester Arena.
