Terrestrial UK network Channel 5 have admitted for the first time that boxing no longer features in the their schedule after WBN published the first rumours spoken by Frank Maloney in London last weekend.
The news flew around ringside at the York Hall last Saturday and quickly filtered through to WBN. After being bombarded with tweets from inquisitive boxing fans on Twitter, the broadcaster have now responded.
“There are no plans to show boxing at the moment but if that changes we will let you know,” stated the channel.
Channel 5 later put out another tweet assuring fans that there is a possibility that boxing will return in the future, although with the total cancellation of James DeGale’s recent show it is sparse consolation to the fight faithful.
Hennessy Sports now find themselves without a TV home for stars like Tyson Fury, Chris Eubank Jr. and DeGale and may now turn to subscription channel BoxNation to find new exposure for their fighters.
