Charlo brothers score stoppage victories at the Hard Rock
Jermell ‘Iron Man’ Charlo inflicted a punishing second loss on Harry Joe Yorgey on the maiden televised bout of the evening on Showtime’s presentation of Lucas Matthysse v Mike Dallas Jr.
The 22 year-old had a bamboozled Yorgey on the floor twice in the second round after dominating the first, before wobbling the Bridgeport fighter on numerous occasions throughout the one-sided contest.
Charlo dominated with his superior jab, following it up with bruising right hands time after time and after putting Yorgey down for the third time in the eighth round, referee Kenny Bayless stopped the contest – with the Texan improving to 20-0 with his tenth stoppage.
Also on the bill at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas, Jermell’s identical twin brother Jermall halted his opponent Josh Williams at the end of the fifth as he took his record to 11-0 with a seventh career knockout.
Williams, 23, failed to show for the sixth round after being on the end of some solid shots for the duration of the bout, and dropped his fifth defeat in thirteen outings suffering his first stoppage in the process.
