Mayweather v McGregor update: Venue / Rounds / Weight / Title / Tickets / Odds / PPV / Undercard

Mayweather at 40 years old will put his 49-0 record and legacy on the line against a fighter who has never fought as a professional boxer.

Opponent McGregor makes the transition from MMA as a two-weight title holder and has some experience of boxing from his younger fighting days.

Venue

After initial talks to stage at the MGM Grand, the fight is set to take place at the close-by T-Mobile Arena (also owned by MGM Grand). The event will be Mayweather’s debut at the newly-built facility once an agreement is reached to switch Ice Cube’s BIG3 show already booked for that weekend.

Rounds

Mayweather v McGregor will be fought over 12 rounds.

Weight

Talk of a catchweight of 152 pounds is yet to be confirmed

Title

None of the current sanctioning bodies have backed the contest as yet, with the WBC, WBA and IBO already making their feelings known that the fight should only be an exhibition.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission have welcomed the fight though, meaning Mayweather will push to 50-0 if successful.

Tickets

This is where the honest and avid fan will miss out. Unless you have big bucks or are extremely lucky, Mayweather v McGregor will largely be populated by celebrities, sponsors and the media.

An official ticket announcement is expected once an imminent press tour is finalized.

Odds

Mayweather has gone from 1/12 to 1/8 whilst McGregor is 5/1 from 7/1.

Pay-Per-View

Following the huge success of Mayweather’s fight with Manny Pacquiao, it’s highly unlikely the McGregor fight would be offered for anything south of $99.95 on Showtime PPV.

Undercard

Despite Mayweather Promotions having a strong hand in fighters on the bill with the likes of Badou Jack, Mickey BeyGervonta Davis, J’Leon Love and Ashley Theophane in their stable, only latest Women’s acquisition Savannah Marshall has so far been allocated a spot.
