Wilder on Whyte offer: Hearn bought a belt for Joshua, let’s see him come buy mine!

Earlier this week, Hearn revealed a ‘massive offer’ (later revealed as $3m) had been made to Wilder for him to give Whyte a shot, which ‘The Bronze Bomber’ didn’t take kindly to as it’s no secret the American puncher wants a unification with Matchroom’s top guy Anthony Joshua.

As Joshua is tied up with a rematch against Wladimir Klitschko and mandatory contender Kubrat Pulev, Wilder seems more receptive to facing Whyte after his own obligation to Bermane Stiverne, but says Hearn needs to raise the stakes.

“If you’re serious get your master Eddie Hearn to follow the procedures and get the fight made,” Wilder told Whyte. “He bought a fresh champion in Charles Martin’s IBF Belt so let’s see him come and buy mine!

“Please do the Brits a favor and come and shut this American WBC Champion up because how I see it, it’s USA Vs Everybody!

“The Takeover has begun. Now (you) think it’s a game (just) watch me stand over your body as the gun smoke clears (that’s a promise).”

As Stiverne has been ordered to fight Wilder next, some sort of deal may have to be worked out if the Whyte fight is to happen first, with no movement yet on a rematch.

Wilder previously defeated Stiverne on points in January 2015 to claim the green belt, which remains the only time the Alabama man has gone the distance in his 38-fight career.
