PR man unconvinced about Senator Manny Pacquaio’s ring return

Sterburg, Pacquiao’s PR officer for years, told WBN he’s in the dark on any future plans for the Filipino to lace up his gloves again following the eight-weight world champion’s election to a Senate seat in the Philippines.

Veteran Pacquiao, who retired after beating Timothy Bradley in April this year, took up his new position recently and has plenty to occupy him before he even thinks about trading blows with Broner or Garcia later this year.

“I have been given no information on this,” Sternburg told World Boxing News over the weekend. “Inasmuch as Manny was just sworn in as Senator this week, I assume his new duties are his priority,” he added.

Bob Arum has been vocal in naming potential opponents for Pacquiao in the future, although nothing is set in stone and will all be down to the 37 year-old southpaw being able to work his training around those new-found responsibilities.

Arch-rival Floyd Mayweather Jr. has also been linked to an imminent return to the ring, having stated the right offer could tempt him back after almost a year out.
