Mayweather: Response to Pacquiao fight has been unbelievable

Speaking at the one-off presser on Wednesday and dressed in a smart suit, the multi-millionaire stated that he is ready to entertain the masses on May 2 in what will be the highest grossing fight of all time when Mayweather tackles Pacquiao on Showtime and HBO simultaneously.

“Since the fight was announced, the response from the public has been unbelievable, and it’s even more clear that this is the fight the fans want to see,” said Mayweather.

“I’m grateful that Manny Pacquiao and I were able to make it happen. This will be the biggest event in the history of boxing.

“I can’t thank my team enough for their support from day one. I’m more motivated than ever to put on an unbelievable show, and I’ll be ready for May 2,” he added.

The 38 year-old didn’t fully go head-to-head with Pacquiao when the two took to the stage in Los Angeles as both stuck to their instructed markers for the pre-staged photo opportunities.

Respect between Mayweather and Pacquiao was evident throughout the proceedings though and fans can expect a little less antagonism this time around than the last time the major networks shared a huge fight. Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson were invloved in a fracas in front of the media and worldwide on TV before their anticipated clash which was eventually won by Briton Lewis via knockout back in 2002.
