The 38 year-old, who was put down five times on his way to a wide points loss against the Ghanaian, is planning to take stock of his career before his comeback – but doesn’t plan to retire just yet.
“I haven’t made a decision on my future but I won’t be hanging them up as I have to much to offer,” Mundine told World Boxing News.
“Manny Pacquiao came back from a shocking knockout, plus Miguel Cotto, Adrien Broner and many others have returned from bad losses.
“I didn’t get knocked out even though I got off the canvas five times and I proved that I am a warrior who would never quit on my stool. Joshua Clottey just executed better then me and credit to him. My defence just wasn’t up to scratch like it normally is and I’m going to take time off to look at my options and make the right move for my career moving forward.
“I know I have things to work on, things I need to fix defensively, and I will do that before my next fight,” he added.
Mundine’s loss means ‘The Man’ misses out on a potential WBA title fight with Erislandy Lara in the summer, with the Australian needing a big win this year to put himself back in the frame for a final world title chance.
