Pacquiao has been accused of avoiding paying his share from fights in Las Vegas for the period 2008 to 2009 and faces a huge bill if a lawsuit filed against the eight-weight champion goes against him.
“Why does he not just show his US tax receipts to the Mahirap ba gawin yun (BIR)?” Belmonte was quoted stating by abc-cbnnews.com this week as the case comes back into light following Pacquiao’s big money win over Brandon Rios.
The 34 year-old, who himself is a member of Congress, has vowed to fight the accusations labelled at him and claims to have paid all his dues from every fight, including those big Nevada pay-days.
Despite also being urged to settle by the BIR Commissioner Ken Henares, Pacquiao is fighting on, with a hearing set for December 5th and said to be worth 2.2 billion Pesos (around $50m/£30m) overall to the Bureau.
A unanimous points win over Rios last Saturday is said to have netted Pacquiao a cool $18m tax-free as the fight was held away from the US in Macau, China.
