Roman Gonzalez hires new trainer, wants Nicaragua fight but admits trepidation about return from KO

Five division WBC champion Roman “Chocolatito” González has returned to the Roger Deshon gym in Managua, Nicaragua, where he’s confirmed Gustavo Herrera as his new trainer, and he’ll have the support of physical trainer Alfredo Corrales as well as his Father Luis Gonzalez.

“Chocolatito” has set an April deadline to return to the ring. He doesn’t yet know where he will fight but he would like it to be in Nicaragua.

In that fight he plans to test his skills and depending on the result he’ll chart his future.

“I have had a wonderful time in 2017. This is the year where I have rested the most. I’ve enjoyed my family.

“I am now beginning the training stage, and with God´s help, we will return to the ring in April, ready to fight in Nicaragua.

“I just don’t know how I’m going to feel in the ring again. I have to see how I feel after the knockout I received by Rungvisai.

“I want to take my time in order to be a world champion again!”
