Murat visa appeal scuppers Hopkins, Wilder and Russell Jr. bouts

The 29 year-old German was due to face current title holder Bernard Hopkins on the bill, although his request for entry to the United States was denied and an appeal would have taken too long to enable Murat to participate.

Hopkins, 48, is now left without an opponent leaving Golden Boy with no option but to cancel the whole bill, with an announcement expected from the promotional company later today.

Heavyweight Deontay Wilder was also due to make his 29th pro outing on the card after knocking out all before within four rounds, whilst featherweight Gary Russell Jr. had lined up his 23rd contest at the Brooklyn event.
