MayPac predictions: UK Fighter’s edition (Part I)

Personalities from the whole spectrum of the sport have given their input into the poll as we count down the days to the most highly anticipated fight of this generation when two of the best ever collide to finally decide the pound for pound king.

WBC and WBA welterweight champion Mayweather, 38, and 36 year-old WBO title holder Pacquiao lay it all on the line in a $250m blockbuster match-up and below are some of the views given by those from the boxing fraternity.

Isaac Chamberlain – I think the fight will be pretty close early on, but very one-sided in Floyd’s favour as the fight goes on. Unless Manny comes with something really special, I see Floyd winning a unanimous decision and maybe stopping him if he lands that straight right countless times.

Gavin McDonnell – I think Mayweather on points, I just think he’s fought every type fighter there is and has beaten all of them.

Lee Selby – Mayweather by late stoppage between 8-12.

Kell Brook – I see it being a tricky few rounds, but then I see Mayweather taking control of the fight and see him controlling the pace and being too smart for Pacman. In the end I see Mayweather winning a unanimous decision.

Tony Dodson – Mayweather by late stoppage or points. It won’t even be close.

David Barnes – My prediction is I think Mayweather will be too crafty for Pacquiao, but will be a close fight.

Kerry Hope – I’ve changed my prediction quite regularly, but I’ve settled on Pacquiao to win on points. I wouldn’t rule out politics forcing a rematch with the amount of dollars generated in this fight though.

Carl Frampton – I think it will be a close fight, but I’m edging towards Floyd on points – only just and it could be controversial.

Anthony Hardy – I am backing Mayweather to win on points. I really idolise Pacman and his work rate, speed, agility and punching power. However, I just think Mayweather has too much defensively for Pacquiao. My heart says Pacquiao, but my head says the Money has got it in the bag!

Leon McKenzie – I’m going Mayweather points or maybe by knockout in the later rounds. I feel Pacman is made for him – especially if he rushes Floyd who is too smart.
