Floyd Mayweather wants $130 UK PPV fee for Conor McGregor fight

The Matchroom boss, who works exclusively with Sky Sports and Sky Sports Box Office, believes the figure Mayweather is holding out for is doubtful to be sanctioned by his TV partners.

“Mayweather wants the price to be £100,” Hearn told GQ.

“The price will be within the same realms as it always has. I don’t set the price, but my gut feeling is £19.95.

“If it went to £24.95 – I can’t see it, it wouldn’t be my decision. Certainly, broadcasters at Sky won’t want to go beyond £19.95. That is their price point,” he added.

In a previous article, WBN predicted anything over £24.95 would have fans in uproar as the usual fee for top-notch events is Hearn’s previously mentioned £19.95.

For this one-off showpiece, £24.95 would probably be reasonable enough in the current climate. However, Mayweather would potentially have to strike a deal with BT Sport / BoxNation to get his wish to charge more.

An announcement on the Pay-Per-View in the UK was due at the back end of last week. This obviously means negotiations have not gone as smooth as first expected.

Sky Sports remains the hot favorites to seal the deal.

BT Sport / BoxNation has already committed to showing Gennady Golovkin v Canelo Alvarez on a new PPV format, a fight that takes place just three weeks after Mayweather v McGregor at the same venue in Las Vegas.
