The nine categories this year are as follows:

WBN Fighter of the Year
Editor’s Choice (Fighter of the Year)
WBN Fight of the Year
WBN Young Fighter of the Year (23 under)
Pound for Pound Breakthrough
Stoppage of 2016
Trainer of the Year
Comeback of 2016
World Title Prospect of 2017

Here are the nominations for Stoppage of 2016:

Canelo Alvarez – 6th Round v Amir Khan (May 7)

Khan appeared to be in the fight at the newly-built T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas when Canelo unleashed a massive blow to immediately end the fight in the sixth round of their catchweight bout.

Vasyl Lomachenko – 5th Round v Roman Martinez (June 11)

The new star of boxing produced an almighty right hand to lay the Puerto Rican out in the fifth. Martinez lay prone on the canvas as referee Danny Schiavone counted out the two-time world title holder.

Deontay Wilder – 9th Round v Artur Szplika (January 16)

Wilder seemed to be struggling to cope with Szpilka’s style through the first eight rounds until finding a hammer blow in the ninth that would have taken any heavyweight in the world out.

Winners of all WBN Awards will be announced in mid-January. Look out for more nominations in the coming days
