Deontay Wilder declares war on Anthony Joshua with steroid insult, not sold on Dillian Whyte

On the back of an awesome knockout of Bermane Stiverne in Brooklyn, Wilder threw out a couple of verbal low blows to his prospective unification opponent.

“I know I’m the best, I just want the chance to prove it. Don’t you want to see one champion, one face one name?” Wilder told Jim Gray of Showtime.

Asked about failing to secure those bigger fights and Anthony Joshua in particular, Wilder added: “I’ve been waiting on that fight for a long time. Me versus A ‘juicing’ J.”

Facing the camera and addressing Joshua directly, he said: “I declare war on you! Do you accept my challenge or are you still going to squat as you p***?

“I’ve been waiting for a long time baby. I know I’m the champion, I know I’m the best. Is you up for the test?”

With Dillian Whyte’s name thrown in the mix for a possible warm-up, Wilder then became more animated.

“King’s don’t chase peasants. They trying to give me the peasant without the king on the contract. I want Joshua.

“Joshua, come and see me, baby. No more ducking, no more hiding. No more excuses, let’s make the fight happen!”

“I’ll go to England, I’ll go anywhere in the world. Make a date, don’t wait,” Wilder said.

Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn hopes to secure the Whyte deal, although openly stated during fight week that the Wilder clash is not big enough for the three-belt king yet.

Whether the Matchroom boss has a change of heart following Wilder’s explosive win remains to be seen but there are many in the sport who would rather see Joshua share the ring with Wilder than with UK rival Tyson Fury – as proposed currently.
