Anthony Joshua talks Dillian Whyte rematch, Jarrell Miller saga

It’s getting closer. We’re just over a week away from the British invasion of New York. Heavyweight kingpin Anthony Joshua defends his IBO, IBF, WBA and WBO world heavyweight titles against Mexico’s former world title challenger Andy Ruiz Jr. at the legendary Madison Square Garden in New York.

Building up to the huge night, which is Anthony’s U.S. debut, JD Sports caught up with the man himself at his training camp in Sheffield.

Savage Dan and Stevo the Madman were lucky enough to have AJ show them how he dealt with his previous opponent, former Olympic gold medallist, Alexander Povetkin.

He spoke of how he used his ‘ring generalship’. Also waited for Povetkin to make a mistake.

They then discussed his 2015 battle with fellow Londoner and world-rated contender, Dillian Whyte.

Whyte, that night, proved himself to be by far AJ’s toughest challenge. He went seven rounds with the then British and Commonwealth champion before being TKO’d in a barnstormer.

In the video, Joshua speaks of how he’d deal with Whyte if they do manage to fight again in what would be an eagerly anticipated rematch.

‘Who’s got the bigger heart?’ AJ declares when talking of what would happen if that bout materializes.

The pad session then moves to that classic topic of how an orthodox fighter deals with an awkward southpaw.

‘It’s about using my strengths as well’, Joshua says. He clearly believes in his own ability and won’t ever be scared facing lefties.

MILLER

Attention then turns to the man who unfortunately misses out on June 1st – Jarrell Miller.

Can Joshua continue his momentum and defeat Andy Ruiz Jr? He’s on the road to mega-fights with Deontay Wilder or Tyson Fury.

Find out on June 1st. The fight is live on DAZN in the U.S and Sky Box Office in the UK.
