Lineal ruler Tyson Fury has no preference when it comes to challenging for his next world heavyweight championship.
The 30 year-old was speaking at a media gathering for his clash with Tom Schwarz on June 15.
In front of the attentive press, Fury outlined his goal to rip titles away from Anthony Joshua or Deontay Wilder.
“They’re both great fights, great for the fans,” Fury stated regarding his two main divisional rivals.
“Either or, it doesn’t really matter to me. I already beat Wilder in his own country. We didn’t get the decision, but we won’t moan about that.
“Whoever (steps up to the plate). It doesn’t really matter. However, wherever,” he added.
On potentially beginning the underdog against both, Fury said: “They’re only men with boxing gloves. If we fought ten times out of time, I’d beat them ten times out of ten.”
Fury went on to predict the clashes would happen next year, rather than Wilder in December, as previously reported.
“When it does happen next year, because it will because they can’t beat me, I won’t change. I’ve already been the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.”
The always outspoken Bob Arum, who travelled to London to represent Fury’s US promotional outfit at Top Rank and ESPN, believes both Wilder and Joshua will suffer defeats to Fury within twelve months.
“A year from now I would say he is going to be the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world,” Arum boldly told the press conference crowd.
“Even more than that, he will be in the top three sportspeople in the world. He will be that well known.
“In one year’s time, he will have fame everyone will recognize,” the Hall of Famer concluded.
REMATCH
Overcoming Schwarz is the first step to a second outing in the fall. A third is pencilled in for December.
Wilder or Joshua is now more likely to take place in the spring, with the former a strong favorite to get the nod.
ESPN sharing broadcast rights with Showtime on Pay-Per-View seems the most logical option for a rematch.
Fans would have to wait over a year from the initial meeting, though. An entertaining match-up which ended in a draw.
