Deontay Wilder has seen his popularity grow by the day, proved by the catchphrase picked up during his last fight with Tyson Fury.
The WBC Heavyweight World Champion reveals the true meaning behind his ‘Til this day” sound bite that went viral in this exclusive clip from ALL ACCESS: WILDER vs. BREAZEALE.
The latest installment of the Sports Emmy® Award-winning series premiered last week on SHOWTIME.
In the clip, Wilder tours the National Memorial for Peace and Justice in Montgomery. A city with deep civil rights history. He explains what led him to react the way he did in the widely-spread video where he emotionally stated that the fight for equality continues to this day.
“That was the most powerful thing I’ve ever said in my life because I’m seeing the reaction. The reflection it’s having on people’s lives,” says Wilder of the soundbite that went viral prior to his December matchup with Fury.
“I’m not perfect. But I will use my platform for the greater good.”
Wilder will attempt to make the ninth successful defense of his WBC Heavyweight World Championship on Saturday, May 18 live on SHOWTIME from Barclays Center in Brooklyn. A matchup of two American heavyweights with a combined 90 percent knockout ratio takes place.
