EXCLUSIVE: Amir Khan reveals when, where he wants to fight Kell Brook

Welterweight contender Amir Khan has revealed to WBN when and where he wants to face British rival Kell Brook.

Promoter Eddie Hearn recently named Khan on a two-man target list for Brook. The other name being Terence Crawford.

As Khan already told WBN on Thursday, the Bolton man sees Brook facing Crawford in his next fight.

“If you think about it, after Kell Brook who else is there? Who is a recognized name that he (Crawford) can fight (on Top Rank / ESPN) this year?

“I mean, Kell Brook has fought some decent names. Brook is probably the only guy out there who has fought decent names and is available.

“He’s been in the ring with some big names like Gennadiy Golovkin. Also, he has no fight lined up. The fact he’s not fighting on June 1st is probably because Crawford wants to fight him.

“I think they’ll just use him as just another big name for Crawford’s record as there’s nobody else available,” the ex-world champ told WBN.

Elaborating further on his future plans to eventually share a ring with ‘The Special One’, Khan said it’s more likely to be later, rather than sooner.

“If we fight it could be early next year or in the summer. I’ve always thought me fighting Kell Brook would be a better summer fight,” Khan exclusively told World Boxing News.

“Not only that, but I’ve got to go into another fight to keep myself busy this year. So it won’t happen just yet.

“Then I’ll see where it takes me after that,” he added.

WBN understands that Khan is eyeing up a potential contest in the Middle East over the next few months after undergoing surgery.

Once healed, Saudi Arabia or Dubai could be his next port of call.

Asked whether he still sees the Brook encounter as a Stadium fight once they finally do get it on, Khan concluded: “It’s always felt like a stadium fight to me as we are two Brits and it could be massive in the UK.

“With the fanbase we both have, I’m assuming it’s definitely going to be a stadium fight.”

STADIUM 2020

The summer of 2020 at Wembley or perhaps Sheffield United or Bolton Wanderers Football Clubs could now be a real possibility for Khan v Brook.

UK fans have waited too long to finally see the best two 147 pounders in the UK trade blows.

Sky Sports Pay-Per-View would no doubt be handling TV rights to any deal, which could land the pair a paycheck in the millions once agreed.
