The WBC’s statistician Luis Medina has been crunching the numbers ahead of Canelo Alvarez’s middleweight unification against Daniel Jacobs on Saturday night.
Canelo and Jacobs battle it out for the WBC, WBA and IBF title belts at 160 and a certain place in divisional folklore.
On the back of two fights against Gennady Golovkin, Canelo fans have been considerably spoilt of late.
A third clash between Canelo and Golovkin is on the cards in the future, but even with a draw and victory over ‘GGG’, Canelo still has work to do in order to crack the all-time list.
There have been a total of 31 World Boxing Council middleweight title holders, both interim and full. Canelo is not present despite being one of only nine fighters to have two spells as champion.
