EXCLUSIVE: Lucas Browne talks rejecting Jarrell Miller, reveals UK offers

Australian heavyweight contender Lucas Browne has revealed an offer from Jarrell Miller was turned down just into the New Year.

‘Big Daddy’ was offered the chance to face ‘Big Baby’ on January 18 in New York but was forced to reject due to a lack of preparation time.

Browne is currently in the rebuilding process following a defeat to Dillian Whyte. The 39-year-old has scored two knockouts since facing Whyte back in March.

With further lucrative UK offers on the table, Browne says he couldn’t risk facing Miller without a sufficient camp.

“The offer to fight Jarrell Miller was made with under two weeks to the fight,” Browne exclusively told World Boxing News.

“It meant I’d have hardly any preparation along with a hell of a plane ride. So really, it didn’t make sense.

“I have no problem with fighting anyone. But at 140kgs and fit, I’d need more than just over a week’s notice to fight Jarrell Miller in the United States.”

ALLEN

Asked about plans to fight on British shores again, Browne lifted the lid on talks with two specific fighters from a quartet of potential encounters.

“I’ve got three of four fights in the UK lined up. So a silly loss against Jarrell Miller made no sense,” he explained.

“We are looking at Dave Allen and David Price. I have to be ready when the call comes.”

Allen is a long-standing target for Browne. Both have been vocal on social media about their desire to trade blows.

Furthermore, it seems a natural fight to make as Allen prepares to make his return to action in the coming months.

‘The Doncaster Darren Barker, or ‘Papi PPV’ as Allen is affectionately known, took Christmas off following a busy 2018.

Before a meeting with Browne, a warm-up fight would make sense and could take place on a big Pay-Per-View undercard or as a stand-alone event by this summer.

Price, on the other hand, could be one for later in the year.
