James DeGale MBE and Chris Eubank Jnr. met face-to-face at the Hotel Cafe Royal in central London.

The bitter rivals were there to announce their highly-anticipated blockbuster showdown on Saturday 23rd February at The O2, exclusively live on ITV Box Office.

The exciting, all-British, clash marks the debut event for Haymon Sports and Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) in the UK.

This follows a groundbreaking deal announced with ITV and Poxon Sports.

DeGale and Eubank Jnr will finally settle their long-running war of words.

The contest has been confirmed for the vacant IBO super-middleweight championship. It will finally decide the Best of British.

DeGale v Eubank Jr. (???? Lawrence Lustig) marks the biggest boxing rivalry since the epic Nigel Benn-Chris Eubank wars over a quarter of century ago.

Promoter Richard Poxon of Poxon Sports, said: “This is a fantastic all British super-middleweight fight that takes us back to the glory days on ITV.

“James DeGale against Chris Eubank Jnr is one of the most highly anticipated fights of recent years and I can’t wait for it.

“Everyone knows the calibre and quality of James. He’s an Olympic Champion and two-time World Champion.

“Chris is a top level fighter. But feels that he has something to prove after the George Groves fight and will be going all out for it.

“It’s going to be a war between the two of them. The fans at The O2 and the viewers on ITV Box Office are in for something special.”

International Boxing Organization President Ed Levine was excited when giving his thoughts to World Boxing News.

“With two of the most recognizable fighters in the UK, it’s certainly an event we are happy to be associated with. Therefore, we know the winner will be a creditable IBO world champion,” Levine told WBN.

“Eubank and DeGale will enter the fight ranked 2nd and 6th respectively in the IBO’s rankings at 168 lb,” he added.

In a previous reign, Eubank made two IBO defenses of the same strap. They included a win over 168 lb former champion Arthur Abraham.

The Brighton man also claimed a KO win over Avni Yildirim who is now WBC, rated no. 2.

Yildirim is also scheduled to fight Anthony Dirrell for the WBC 168 lb title on the same date as DeGale v Eubank.
