Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch rumors intensify with RIZIN link

A rematch between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao remains a possibility if you read into the pair both staging discussions with RIZIN.

Mayweather fights on a RIZIN card next month. While Pacquiao held talks with CEO Nobu Sakakibara in the Philippines recently.

An exhibition or even an entire professional contest is still more likely to take place than not between the legends.

Sakakibara revealed he had dinner with Pacquiao as they chewed the fat over his next moves in the sport.

“I went to Manila and met Pacquiao for the first time in three years,” said Nobu. “We had a very positive discussion about our future!

“Please look forward to it [our partnership]. I was treated to a meal at home, but even so, it was a great house,” he added.

Manny Pacquiao RIZIN

Pacquiao fights in December against a combat YouTuber. Once he gets the taste of it again following sixteen months of retirement, the former Presidential candidate could face Mayweather in 2023.

Mayweather’s millions

Floyd made it clear that he has plans for at least one more fight when talking to FightHype.com over the summer.

“I’ve got three more exhibitions this year. It could be one fight and two exhibitions. It’s at least $200million,” Mayweather stated.

Filipino trainer Buboy Fernandez believes Pacquiao has to continue fighting for his country. He spoke about their intentions at the presser for the DK Yoo event.

“Especially now that we don’t have a world champion),” Fernandez said. “This exhibition bout is no joke because they will fight without headgear, unlike other exhibitions.

“[As] not only his best friend but his trainer, I need to support him. To make sure that he is in condition,” he added.

Pacquiao will continue fighting in some aspect

Asked if another fight will happen, maybe against Mayweather, Buboy replied: “We cannot say, but it’s possible.

“We can’t really say for good because, in the end, it’s up to him. It’s still different when it’s Manny Pacquiao who’s fighting.”

RIZIN could be involved as the Japanese promoters significantly impact Asian broadcasting.

With Mayweather and Pacquiao competing in the region over the next few months, staging a return in Asia is not out of the question.

However, Showtime would remain the favorite to take the US TV rights and have a big say in what goes down for the Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch.
