One-fight boxer and UFC star Conor McGregor will star alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in a remake of the Patrick Swayze classic “Road House” on Prime Video.

Deadline reports that McGregor will be part of the cast which sees Gyllenhaal play a former UFC fighter turned bouncer.

Conor McGregor – Road House

Gyllenhall effectively plays the part of Swayze’s “Dalton” character from the original smash-hit movie. McGregor’s part is unknown at this point.

So far during his screen career, McGregor has been limited to video games and documentaries.

His credits on IMDB include the following:

2018UFC 25 Years in Short (TV Series)
2017: MacMania (2018)
2018 EA Sports UFC 3 (Video Game)
Conor McGregor (voice)
2016 Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare (Video Game)
Captain Bradley Fillion (voice, as Conor A McGregor)
2016 EA Sports UFC 2 (Video Game)
Conor McGregor (voice)
2015 Conor McGregor Storms out During Interview: Game of War (Video Game)
Conor McGregor
2015 Game of War: Prepare for War (TV Series) (2015)
Hide HideProducer (2 credits)
2017 Conor McGregor: Notorious (Documentary) (executive producer)
2015 The Notorious (TV Series documentary) (executive producer)

Pre-production

Road House has been added to that list and is currently in pre-production.

The Irishman joins a solid cast of confirmed actors, including Billy Magnussen, Lukas Gage, Travis Van Winkle, Beau Knapp, and Bob Menery.

In further details released about the project, Director Doug Liman is working with writers Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry to bring the script to life.

The movie will be aired on Amazon Prime Video sometime in the next two years.

Jake Gyllenhaal

McGregor was linked to fights with Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao before landing the acting gig. Another big question is whether this job to kickstart his acting career will have any bearing on those possible bouts.

Landing a role alongside Gyllenhaal is a real coup for McGregor and his team. Gyllenhaal is a Hollywood elite, an award-winning actor who recently earned acclaim for his role in “Ambulance.”

Gyllenhaal was also impressive in the boxing film “Southpaw” after taking over the headliner from rapper Eminem. Again, Gyllenhall received praise for his commitment to the role of a boxer.

McGregor will have to get up to speed quickly.
