Fans rage as Channel 5 cut Pat McCormack for “Criminals” repeat

Social media lit up on Saturday night as UK fans waiting up to see Team GB star Pat McCormack were left disappointed.

Pat McCormack

McCormack got highly billed as being part of a three-fight broadcast including Josh Kelly and Harlem Eubank.

Both Kelly and Eubank saw their fights shown live. However, Channel 5 said they had to end the show at 12: 05 am UK time.

Confusion reigned, though, when a repeat of “999 Criminals Caught of Camera” was shown instead. It’s not as though that show should have taken precedence over a live sports broadcast.

After shockingly cutting the broadcast, Pat McCormack won off Channel 5 with a first-round technical knockout.

Before the farce hit, the action had whetted the appetite.

Josh Kelly Results

In the headliner, Josh Kelly picked up a ranking title against Lucas Bastida. Kelly earned a ten-round decision to exercise the demons of his loss to David Avenasyan.

Kelly could maneuver attacks and keep his composure to see the victory despite being visibly bruised and cut.

After the win, Kelly told Channel 5: “I’m here for all the big fights, including Troy Williamson.”

Harlem Eubank survived three blows after the bell to get an early verdict before a certain points win.

The dangerous Eliot Chavez lost his head or lost translation during the fight as he dropped Eubank with a combination after the shout of break.

When he did it again in round ten, a disqualification was the final result.

Jordan Barker-Porter stopped Bec Connelly in five rounds for the best win of her career.

Lisa Whiteside dropped Jasmina Nad in the opening session before boxing beautifully to win every round of six.

Whiteside saw out a 60-53 triumph to move to 4-0.

Before the main fights began, Ben Marksby scored a decision triumph over Rustem Fatkhullin 60-55 on the third man’s scorecard.

Pre-fight favorite Hosea Stewart had to be content with a draw against Franklin Ignatius. After four rounds, the score read 38-38.

Kai Richmond kicked off the show with a third-round stoppage of Taka Bembere.
