If Floyd Mayweather fights pro again, it has to be Manny Pacquiao

Floyd Mayweather has 51-0 in his sights but is yet to reignite plans for a second fight with Manny Pacquiao.

In 2020, Mayweather stated his intention to face Pacquiao again in the Middle East. Talks broke down as the pandemic raged around the world.

Floyd Mayweather return

Mayweather seems certain to fight again after announcing his plan to have three fights, one of which will be a professional outing.

The big question is who will the former pound-for-pound king select as his latest money-making mechanism?

Conor McGregor is amid the rumor mill. However, the Irishman is unconfirmed by Mayweather at this point.

At 45, Mayweather knows his days as a fully-fledged welterweight contender are over. They have been for some time.

Therefore, all and sundry speculating about Floyd are choosing to pit him again anyone other than the current 147 stars.

Manny Pacquiao rematch

That includes Manny Pacquiao. Not many are shouting about ‘MayPac 2’ getting over the line, though. The focus is on an unwarranted return with McGregor.

But why not Pacquiao? – The first fight remains the most lucrative of all time. So why don’t both repeat it while they can?

Mayweather is just about on the right side of his mid-forties to compete. On the other hand, Pacquiao was in sparkling form as close as 2019.

A second event makes total sense. Yet it looks to be the last thing on most minds when predicting the ‘Money’ man’s next move.

Sparring partner Denis Douglin predicted Mayweather would one hundred percent fight again when talks got underway with Pacquiao previously. Like today’s reports, Douglin said a UFC fighter is in his immediate future.

The American’s thought process is merely down to the stances involved.

Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor reports

“I do think this could happen [Floyd Mayweather returns]. I think he’s going to fight UFC guys,” Douglin told Vegas Insider.

“It’s quite interesting because I’m left-handed, and McGregor and Khabib are both left-handed. So him choosing to spar me that might be the reason why.

“That’s something someone said to me the other day. I was like, you know what, that makes sense, so it’s possible.

“The Conor McGregor fight generated so much money. Why not do something like that again or fight another UFC fighter if he’s making millions of dollars?”

Las Vegas rematch on PPV

Anyone can answer that question quite easily because Manny Pacquiao generated more money. It was a much more competitive fight.

Pacquiao also says he was injured pre-fight. This fact only adds to the drama of a return PPV. There is unfinished business.

Laying the groundwork now could see a big blockbuster clash at the new Allegiant Stadium, a possibility by May of 2023, and give both men ample time to prepare.

Mayweather and Pacquiao have exhibitions to go through during their preparations. Fans would certainly like to see that over McGregor if Mayweather goes for 51-0.

Projections of at least two million-plus sales on the paid platform would be a no-brainer as fans scream out for massive headlining stars.

They aren’t much more significant in record-breaking terms than Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao.
