Ryan Garcia vs Fortuna fight quietly moves up to super lightweight

Ryan Garcia is fighting Javier Fortuna at 140 pounds despite the initial announcement coming at lightweight.

Garcia, who has campaigned between 130 and 135 his entire career, could be on the verge of a permanent move up.

Super lightweight

“King Ry” weighed an agreed 138 pounds vs Emmanuel Tagoe. This scenario seems to be another similar arrangement for the Fortuna fight.

Whether or not it’s a permanent thing is up for debate in the future.

The boxing superstar, who is 22-0, 18KOs, fights out of Victorville, CA, and battles Fortuna in a scheduled twelve-round lightweight fight.

He goes up against a former two-time world champion in “El Abejon,” who has a 37-3-1, 26 K.O.s, C.V.

Fortuna hails from La Romana in the Dominican Republic and will be a tough test for Garcia. However, the fact that Fortuna weighed as low as 126 pounds during his career will only favor Garcia.

Therefore, Fortuna is confident he can upset the social media influencer and begin a career resurgence.

“I feel very good to be here, very honored, and am happy that I can move my career forward,” said Fortuna.

“I feel good, and I’m in good physical condition. Also, I promise I will give the fans a very good fight.”

Test

On what kind of test Garcia poses, Fortuna added: “Ryan is a good fighter, but we hope that this time around he doesn’t have any excuses not to fight me.

“I see that he is very focused on another fight instead of focusing on the fight he has this Saturday. And we hope that after I beat him on Saturday, he doesn’t have any excuses.”

“When you enter the ring, you risk your life, and I am risking my life, sacrificing for my children.

“But I promise that I will give him everything I have. I am focused on what I can do to win.”

Ryan Garcia vs Fortuna

Garcia said: “I’m determined to do something amazing, entertain the fans and give them a show.

“He wants to knock me out too, so we’re going to come in and throw our punches and give the fans a great show.”

“Now I’m focused and locked in. I’m ready to do my job, and I’m done talking. I just bring my good energy and speak the truth.

“Many respectable athletes like that and want to come to see me fight, and people respect you when you’re good at what you do.”
