Frank Warren books O2 Arena for Beterbiev vs Yarde in October

Frank Warren outlined plans to stage Beterbiev vs Yarde for three world titles in London this October.

Artur Beterbiev recently defended his WBC and IBF versions when picking up the WBO belt from Joe Smith Jr.

The formidable champion blasted Smith out with incredible power and accuracy.

Now, as the boxing world asks for Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol for all the straps, Warren revealed he already agreed to a deal with Top Rank for Anthony Yarde.

“Come October of this year, we can look forward to welcoming one of the most formidable fighters on the planet to London.

“Artur Beterbiev rocks up to take on our own Anthony Yarde in defense of his three world title belts,” said Warren.

“We had to think ahead with our strategy for putting this fight in place. The agreement had been reached before Beterbiev even laid a glove on Joe Smith Jr.

“Anthony holds the number one spot with the WBO. He would be called as the mandatory anyway.

“So, along with Bob Arum of Top Rank, we put our plans into action. We have booked the 02 Arena for what will be a mighty collision between two huge punching light heavies.”

Domestic battle

Not only that, but Warren is planning for Yarde to dethrone Beterbiev and then face his own Callum Johnson in an all-British world title blockbuster next year.

“We are counting on Anthony to seize the belts and then bring Callum deservedly back into the mix.

“Some people might think I am losing my marbles, but I believe Anthony can do a job on Beterbiev. I really do. Yes, he is a big puncher, but then so is Anthony, and Callum has shown before that Beterbiev can be rocked.

“I very much hope this success comes on an October night on the Greenwich Peninsula,” concluded the Hall of Fame promoter.

Beterbiev vs Yarde

Groans from those who wanted Beterbiev vs Bivol will have to go on the backburner for now. One man who will be happy is Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez.

The undefeated Mexican, who is 44-0, is Bivol’s mandatory challenger. He has been trying to land that fight for years.

Ramirez could get the call from the WBA as Beterbiev takes care of his WBO stipulation.
