‘Heavyweight Golovkin’ makes ominous move into voluntary WBC title spot

World Boxing Council ratings for June 2022 show the man nicknamed the Heavyweight Golovkin making an ominous move on the list.

Although there are only minor changes from the previous month, Kazakh wrecking ball Zhan Kossobutskiy is now in line for a voluntary title defense.

However, the chances of champion Tyson Fury plucking Kossobutskiy out of thin air for a future fight are slim to none.

The top eight remain the same, with Deontay Wilder still top, followed by Joe Joyce and Joseph Parker. Then comes Frank Sanchez, Andy Ruiz Jr., Arslanbek Makhmudov, Dillian Whyte, and Luis Ortiz.

Changes to the top fifteen see Otto Wallin and Robert Helenius move up one place in the top ten as Tony Yoka drops to sixteen. That’s due to his loss against Martin Bakole, who is now eleven.

Michael Hunter, Filip Hrgovic, and Agit Kabayel round off those chasing a possible shot at the current ruler.
