Pound for Pound king Canelo Alvarez has vowed to rule for seven more years after being labeled ‘The super-middleweight Mike Tyson” this week.
The Mexican superstar dug his solid fist in the face of Billy Joe Saunders over the weekend in Texas. It was a punch heard around the world.
Before enchanting his legacy even further, Canelo stopped by the ever-informative “Last Stand Podcast with Brian Custer” to discuss what might be next.
Amazingly, the four-weight world champion plans to continue boxing until approaching his forties despite turning pro as a 15-year-old.
He also told Custer he wants IBF ruler Caleb Plant and talked about future fights with Jermall Charlo or David Benavidez.
On Plant, he stated: “That’s what I want, all of the titles in this division. I need to win [which he did in the eighth round], and then the next champion is Caleb Plant. That’s the goal.”
Moving on to a potential fight with middleweight champion Jermall Charlo, the 30-year-old added: “Yes, why not for the people.
“Maybe for me, it’s hard to make 160 now, but let’s see for the future.”
David Benavidez was next for a mention.
“Why not? It would be a great fight with David Benavidez. I want to make fights people want to see.”

A talking point at the end of his victory over Saunders was an exchange with Demetrius Andrade. The pair traded barbs at the post-fight presser.
Canelo had mentioned something he later said at the presser to Custer before being labeled with the Mike Tyson moniker.
“He’s fought nobody yet, you see the record, but he’s fighting with nobody. I have other plans!”
Finally, on fighting at 168 pounds and whether he’s open to working with Premier Boxing Champions on the Planet fight, Canelo concluded: “Maybe until the end of my career. [I will fight at 168].
[So, how long many more years do you plan on fighting?] Seven [years]!”
“Maybe, why not [fight on PBC]? It’s my last fight with DAZN.
“I hope to work with Eddie (Hearn) no matter what, but why not because I want to fight with all the guys in boxing.”
