Eddie Hearn’s recent comments regarding Anthony Joshua have been met with a moody reception by the former heavyweight champion.
The Matchroom boss aired his views on Joshua and suggested the Londoner was now more content with life without his titles belts.
Andy Ruiz Jr. ripped them away in devastating fashion on June 1st as Joshua made a bad started to his US career.
Speaking about AJ’s reverse, Hearn gave an eyebrow-raising view.
“Anthony has this massive pressure on his shoulders all the time,” he said on his new podcast at BBC Radio 5 Live called No Passion, No Point
“He is the first mega-star of boxing in this country. It was almost like a relief to him.
“He will never admit that but the fact that I am the challenger now. I’m not this champion who has four belts and who everyone expects me to win all the time.
“Its kind of like the pressure is off.”
Whether Hearn was looking for an explosive start to his new platform is unknown at this point. Joshua certainly didn’t agree when asked the question this week.
“As long as you know where you stand with your sh** good and bad, that’s all that matters,” Joshua said on Instagram.
“People are always going to interpret the story however they f****** want. As long as you stay true to yourself and know where you stand in a situation, you’ve got nothing to worry about.”

Joshua has decided to stick with his whole team moving forward. Saying that – it’s common knowledge a contract with DAZN is set to run out this year.
An extension could depend how a rematch with Ruiz pans out later on this year.
Hearn initially wanted Ruiz to travel to the UK. DAZN, on the other hand, are pushing for New York to host the second fight.
Ruiz also wants Mexico in the frame as he aims for a repeat performance. There are already rumors of huge investment from powerful Mexican sources.
Madison Square Garden remains the firm favorite to land the return, scheduled to take place in November or December.
