Usyk fall return / Mikey Garcia exhibition / Vargas-Kameda / Zewski VADA
Undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk was forced to postpone his heavyweight debut against Carlos Takam, after suffering a bicep injury.
Usyk was scheduled to fight Takam, in Maryland, on May 25. However, Eddie Hearn revealed on social media that Usyk will have to wait for the injury to heal.
According to Hearn, the return of Usyk could take place in August. He expects the boxer to resume training in five weeks.
“He had a bicep injury but he is not having surgery. I think he will return to the ring in August. It will be five weeks until he can start training again.”
Usyk rocketed up the cruiserweight division when he defeated Murat Gassiev in Moscow in July last year.
Then he defended his titles against Tony Bellew in Manchester in November.
Mikey Garcia will step into the ring to help raise funds for a noble cause.

The young and undefeated boxing prospect Izaac Colunga, a bright hometown hero, was tragically shot in the neck during a drive-by shooting. Izaac now suffers from severe repercussions of the bullet. It now sits in his vertebrae with the risk of being paralyzed.
Izaac’s family is in need of strength and hope. For which Team Garcia and Team Garcia Promotions have agreed to donate all proceeds to help support him. They want to promote solidarity with Team Izaac Colunga’s recovery effort.
Along with Mikey Garcia’s main event, Team Garcia Promotions adds a festival of activities. A special appearance by Janet Uribe, plus a multitude of vendors, music, food and drink. A DJ set will also lead up to the scheduled bouts of the evening.
Former World Champion and 2012 “Trainer of the Year” Robert Garcia will be present.

This week the WBC interim super bantamweight champion Tomoki Kameda (36-2, 20 KOs), stated he will face the WBC super bantamweight champion, Rey Vargas (33-0, 22 KOs) in a unification bout in July in Los Angeles.
The fight could be held on July 13 and will take place in Carson California, 35 minutes from downtown Los Angeles, Eric Gomez of Golden Boy Promotions confirmed to Dan Rafael of ESPN.
He also stated that it would be broadcast on DAZN, in the US, as part of Golden Boy’s relation with this platform.
The undefeated Mexican champion will make his fifth belt defense aiming to repeat his amateur victory over Kameda.
Tomoki, meanwhile, will seek to become the WBC’s absolute champion and take revenge for his defeat as amateurs.
WBC international welterweight champion, Mikael Zewski has received a VADA visit for the collection of samples, complying with the procedures indicated by the Clean Boxing Program.
Mikael Zewski shared a photo on his social networks where he wrote: “I just received a visit from @Vada_Testing at home.
“I’m very happy that @WBCBoxing has enrolled me in the program. WE NEED A CLEAN SPORT.”
The Canadian who has a record of 32 fights, 22 of them by KO. He holds one defeat and is an example for all.
