Danny Garcia impressive, drops Adrian Granados three times in stoppage

World Boxing News 21/04/2019

Two-weight world title holder Danny Garcia was in superb form as ‘Swift’ put his defeat to Shawn Porter firmly behind him.

Garcia came out of the gate with bad intentions for his PBC on FOX contest with Adrian Granados in Carson, California.

Warming up in the first round, Garcia connected in the two with a sweeping left hook to drop Granados hard.

The American repeated the feat later in the round before continuing to dominate through three and four.

Granados hit the canvas again in the fifth and was warned by referee Thomas Taylor he needed to do more.

As Garcia piled on the pressure in the sixth and seventh, Taylor has eventually seen enough.

Stopping Granados for the first time, Garcia could now be set for a Porter rematch later in 2019.

Former world heavyweight title challenger Andy Ruiz Jr. remained on course for another shot by getting Alexander Dimitrenko out of there in five.

Ruiz, whose only loss came against Joseph Parker in New Zealand, is now 32-1 after Dimitrenko stayed on his stool and negated on fighting the sixth round.

A big win for Ruiz on what was his debut for Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions.
