Thomas Patrick Ward had a dominating performance against Jesse Angel Hernandez in his first USA outing, which featured live on Showtime.

In an exclusive interview with WBN in reflection, Ward spoke about his recent experience.

Promoter Dmitriy Salita, handler of heavyweight Jarrell Miller, had previously headhunted Ward.

“It was fantastic, he contacted me through Facebook and then I put them onto my trainer Neil Fannon. They struck a deal for the fight to happen,” Ward exclusively told World Boxing News.

“I was more than happy to go and fight, obviously being live on Showtime as well was good.

“We took ourselves to New York for eight or nine days and then went to Wichita, Kansas. We obviously boxed out there and it was a good experience all around.”

Now 26-0 (4 KOs) Ward is looking for the big fights in his career after excelling at British level.

“It was good, everyone’s been fighting out in the states and on big cards. We got the opportunity to do it so I was happy to do it, I was buzzing about it really.”

More opportunities for Ward to box across the pond may await with DAZN showing the upcoming TJ Doheny vs. Danny Roman unification.

EXPOSURE

After a scintillating display of his boxing ability, Ward feels he’s earned his American exposure.

“Yeah, I mean why not (take on the winner of Doheny v Roman)? I’m looking for any opportunities to fight in the big fights.

“I want to be involved in big fights and good fights. As a fighter, you want to be involved in the biggest fights out there.

“Wherever it leads me, it leads me I’m happy to go anywhere,” he concluded.

Ward could fight again in the United States later this year.
